The set is solid stainless. A far cry above the big box clad utensils that eventually rust. I took off one star because the handles (front and back piece for each utensil) are screwed onto the shaft through a recess in the back piece of the handle. I hope the screw is stainless because consistent diligence will be required to keep the recess (hole) clean around the srew.
